User Experience Librarian

East Lansing, MI
I'm a User Experience Librarian at Michigan State University. At the heart of user experience work is the idea that services, resources, and programs should be designed with the user in mind. This means gathering data and information to better understand what our patrons need and want in an academic library - not just what we think they want! On any given day, I might be working on library-wide projects (like studying how students use the space we provide for them) or consulting with a specific unit (like helping design a survey to evaluate a service or program) or I might be crunching numbers and coding comments to tell the story of our libraries. I also spend some time at the Reference Desk doing the thing that drew me to this profession in the first place - helping people and tracking down information. I'm a former Spectrum Scholar and ARL Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce (IRDW) Diversity Scholar, and I can safely say I wouldn't be where I am today without the support I've received from those amazing communities!
What I'm Reading:
I'm (slowly) making my way through the Game of Thrones series.
